Qualifying Event: Thursday 8th July 2010
This week the Financial Times Business Championship visited Open Qualifying venue Walton Heath. Competitors played the Old Course in superb conditions and the sun was shining once again. The dry conditions meant that there was plenty of run on the ball and so any competitors keeping it on the straight and narrow had opportunities to make birdies.
The scores reflected the good playing conditions with a number of pairs scoring in the high 30s. Greenfields Coltham, Henhouse Wholesale and Design Portfolio all managed to score in the 40s in order to be in the prizes. Greenfields Coltham's Team A scored a fantastic 47 points and added with the Team B score of 34 this gave them a comfortable win over Henhouse Wholesale and booked their place in the Grand Finals. Design Portfolio finished in 3rd place after a card playoff with Wise & Co with both teams finishing on 76 points.
Greenfields Coltham will travel out to the Grand Finals in October, taking place at the fantastic Quinta Do Lago Laranjal Course and teams finishing in 1st, 2nd and 3rd places received crystalware from Inkerman.
Cliff Heeley from Greenfields Coltham won the Nearest the Pin competition to take a second prize, an Odyssey Backstryke Putter. David Young from Wise & Co won the Longest Drive competition, taking home a Callaway Diablo hybrid club.
Many thanks to all the teams who took part in the day. There are still a limited number of places available in the last couple of events. For more information please call International Sports Management on 01565 832100.
